Event History - Whats been going on!
Art
Exhibition at Fowlmere School
The Friends
of Fowlmere School's 5th Art Exhibition will take place from 16th -18th May
2003. Previous exhibitions have been extremely well attended and much admired
by many people from in and well beyond Fowlmere. Last year's exhibition raised
a record £1,845, contributing to a total of more than £5,400 raised over the
last 4 years, which will go towards the School's exciting building development
project, due to start in August 2003.
The exhibition has a growing reputation, with more than 70 local artists exhibiting
over 260 pictures last year, all of which were of a very high standard and in
much demand by many of the 450 visitors who came. Some pictures could have been
sold several times over! An added feature is a parallel exhibition of delightful
paintings by the pupils at Fowlmere School, which always attracts interest from
the press. The variety and quality of the work is stunning, and the relaxing
atmosphere that surrounds the display provides a pleasant half hour escape from
weekend chores for many visitors. We are looking forward to an equally impressive
display of local talent this year, and would like to welcome even more visitors.
If you haven't been before, do come along and bring some friends. Although many
of the pictures are very reasonably priced, there is no obligation to buy. Just
come, have a cup of tea and a piece of cake and enjoy a delightful collection
of work.
If anyone in the Village would like to exhibit, or has an artist friend who
would be interested, or if you would simply like to know more about this year's
exhibition, please contact Lois Nolasco on 208442.
