Ancient Monuments

Cambridge American Military Cemetery and Memorial   Located on A1303 1m W of Cambridge.  Cemetary for military personnel killed during W.W.II.  Reception area, information area, Memorial Chapel.

Denny Abbey(EH)                      (6m NE Cambridge on A10) Remains of 12c church and 14c dining hall of religious house.  First a benedictine priory and then a Franciscan nunnery, later became a farmhouse until WW2.  Incorporates Farmland museum.

Historic Houses

Anglesey Abbey  (NT)                     (6m NE Cambridge )

Mills

Bourn Windmill    (Caxton Road, Bourn 10m W Cambridge) Open trestle type mill of 13c design.  Dates from before 1636 and thought to be the oldest of its type in the country.

Hinxton Watermill                     (Mill Lane, Hinxton 14m S) Restored to working order with flour for sale.  Dates from 17c.

Watermill owned by National Trust near to Anglesey Abbey.

The Windmill (Swaffham Prior 9m NECambridge on B1102) Tarred brick and clunch four storied tower C1869, worked commercially until 1946.  Restored and now producing traditional wholemeal flour which is offered for sale
